20//20

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

The age spectrum at RiverChurch literally touches on just about every decade of life.  We’ve got newborns, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school age, middle, high, college, young couples, 30Somethings, 40Somethings, 50Somethings right on up to almost 80Somethings.  That’s pretty exciting for any church.  But one group that often times slips through the cracks in many typical church settings are the folks in that 20Something age range.  At RiverChurch that age range is represented in every area of ministry, in fact these guys are often giving out in ministry, with no real opportunity to receive ministry in their own lives.

Well, we’ve decided to not let that be the case at RiverChurch.  This Friday we’re starting 20//20 a monthly gathering for folks in their 20’s.  We’ve even opened the age to some of the folks that are on the brink of their 20’s.  What is it?  Its an informal time to gather, fellowship, and spend some time growing together, building community, and receiving back just a little portion of what they give here at RiverChurch every week.

Each months gathering will look a little different, but this month we’re kicking it off with a beach volleyball night and we can’t wait for this Friday night to get here.   Friday, 8.20 @ 6:20 we’ll be playing volleyball at the Marina Pointe Court – just before you head up Big Ridge from HWY 153.

If you’d like more information, or you plan to attend, drop an RSVP email to info@riverchurch.me

See you there.

Backpack Distirbution @Hillcrest Elementary School

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

The Backpack Project with the Nehemiah Project was the very first outreach endeavor of RiverChurch.  One year ago we joined the folks at Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Chattanooga in stuffing backpacks and a week later we distributed them at a local elementary school.

A year ago we began to develop a relationship with Hillcrest Elementary School just down the road from us.  We’ve volunteered to help with a variety of initiatives from Hillcrest as well as investing in the school itself and its student body.

This year, we’ve combined our efforts with the Nehemiah Project and Hillcrest and will be gathering tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. to distribute over 300 backpacks to students who would otherwise have nothing with which to start the school year.

If you’re in the area and would like to join us for a couple of hours, meet us at Hillcrest at 9 a.m.  Don’t miss the fun.

The Passion Meal

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

The night before Jesus was crucified, He shared a very special meal with his disciples.  While the meal itself was a traditional Passover Meal, it was also a meal where He revealed his love for his disciples as well as His purpose in coming to earth.

On Good Friday, April 2, we will share that same meal together, and learn about the different elements of a Passover Meal and how they reveal the Passion and Purpose of Jesus.  If you would like to join us for this very special evening, email info@riverchurch.me
